With color seasons, are you talking about time of year?

Some people hear the word "seasons" and think we're talking about what colors to wear at certain times of year.

In fact, a color season is a palette of colors that works for you year-round.

So why did we name the palettes after seasons? Because it makes them easier to remember.

We could have called them something like RGB #1, RGB #2, and so on, but Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn is easier to remember.

Does my season change when I age?

Maybe. According to Christine Scaman, it's common for someone's color season to change when they're growing up (due to hormonal changes), but it typically levels out "around age 25 or so."

However, I think we don't have enough evidence to know for sure if that's always true. (Isn't it possible that hormones can fluctuate throughout a person's lifetime?)

Overall, analyze yourself based on how you look now (not photos from several years ago).

And keep in mind that your season might change, especially if you're under 25.

Does my season change when I have a tan?

Nope. As long as it's your natural skin color, your season stays the same year-round.

That's because your color season represents a palette of colors that all harmonize with your skin. These colors include lighter and darker tones, but they all fall within a certain range.

Likewise, your skin might include lighter and darker tones over the course of a year, but it always falls within a certain range on the color spectrum—as determined by your genetics.

Keep in mind that when testing colors to find your season, you need to be able to see your natural skin color. That means no makeup and no fake tan.

How does my hair and eye color factor in?

It's irrelevant.

You might have heard it's easy to find your season based on your skin, hair, and eye color. (For example, "Freckles + hazel eyes + red-brown hair = Autumn.")

Unfortunately, it doesn't work. (I have all those features, but I'm actually a true summer.)

The truth is, anyone with any skin-hair-eye color can be any color season.

The only reliable way to find your season is to test one color at a time in real life, and see how it affects your skin.
